CHARACTER

Name: Mirai Trunks Briefs
Canon: DragonBall Z (anime)
Gender: boy
Age: 18
Wing Color: easter egg lavender, to match his hair. Bulma's kid has to be fashion forward and match ok it's very important

Canon Point: Mid-episode 132, "Give Chase!! The Search for Doctor Gero's Mysterious Laboratory" just after Bulma's ship crashes.
Canon Point Explanation: With this point, there's enough going on for him to have interesting interactions with the characters in play and interesting, diverse cross-canon CR, as well as giving him the opportunity for different character growth/development. It's also early enough to allow for potential canon updates if needed/wanted.
History: This is sort of where the plot gets a little convoluted

Personality:

The mysterious youth...

In any other series, Trunks could almost be the boy nextdoor you bring home to meet your mom. He's polite, he's considerate, a bit quiet but not rudely so. He's friendly if you come talk to him though he'll keep his personal business to himself. He's the type that sees someone struggling to carry their groceries and run to offer a hand without even a second guess. He could sit and pet a puppy for a couple of hours, okay, that's just the kind of decent guy he is. No, seriously, just imagine him sitting with a golden retriever just happily petting him. That's him, that's the Trunks everyone sees on the streets. Just a generally nice, quiet guy who keeps his business to himself. He wants to help others and see other people be happy, especially after a lifetime of a post-apocalyptic destruction by bio-mechanically engineered robot-- Okay there's the DBZ plot.

"Yeah... I guess I can see the resemblance..."

Those who can get him away from the dog though and get him in a real conversation, that get to know him at all? See a pretty positive and hopeful guy. He's trusting of his friends and people he's heard great stories about, almost to the point of being overly naive in his expectations of them. He's kind, cares deeply about innocent people and their suffering. He wants nothing more than to find a way to rid his world of the androids that destroyed everything so people can live in peace again. He can be very grounded, often bringing things back into perspective for those around him. It's not that he wants to ruin a good moment, but he has a very realistic sense of what's going on. It's not to say he can't be optimistic. He's pretty friendly and positive when he knows things are going well, even so far as offering the Z Fighters drinks while they waited for Goku to arrive after Frieza and King Cold's deaths. He is definitely the son of Vegeta and Bulma. When he knows he's outclassed his enemies, he can be the cockiest little shit around, throwing out cheesy one-liners with the rest of the team. He knows where he stands as far as his power and he isn't afraid to show it off in a fight when he knows he'll kick ass. He can be confident and the all around go-to guy as long as things are going his way (e.g. he can and will overpower that enemy because he is the stronger opponent). He's stubborn and determined, unwilling to give up a problem if there's a solution in sight or a plan in place.

Trunks is very protective of his family and friends. He's already lost them in his world, most he never even got to meet. So the thought of losing them again in another timeline is something he won't stand for. He's more than willing to stop them from fighting, throw himself in their way, protect them at any and all cost so that they can keep living. This is especially apparent for Vegeta, the father he never knew but whose identity Trunks built up around from stories his mother told him. He doesn't so much admire his father, so much as Trunks admires the idea of his father. He knows from his mother's stories that Vegeta is proud, immensely strong, the last Prince of their race and had to have had some feeling for his mother. He built up the idea of his father to be a big positive hero that fought along-side the other Z Fighters only to find only the 'strong' and 'proud' parts were true to life. All the same, he still wants his father's acknowledgment for his strength and for being his son. He's over-eager to prove himself to his father and get the recognition he craves, having been left with no one but Bulma his entire life.

However, along with his determination and stubbornness goes anger and frustration when things don't work out exactly right. He's a bit shortsighted, pinning all his hopes on a singular plan to work and not consider optional backup plans. Trunks is very verbal with his confusion and irritation, usually trying to talk himself through a problem as likely a remnant of being alone so much in his timeline. He'll talk himself in circles if no one interjects and offers a different viewpoint. This often leads to his own frustration, at his lack of strength for not stopping the problem to begin with and at his own fault for not being able to see a simple solution. In his mind, he's done and is doing everything he can to change the course of events to ensure everyone's livelihood, so when things don't play out the same as his own timeline, he's irritated and confused, he should have calculated these types of changes. Add in that a lot of the changes don't make any sense or have a distinct origin point, it grinds his gears even worse.

"They're monsters. That's the only way I can describe them."

When speaking of his world, he's scared, anxious, stressed about what to do. He initially believes there's no hope for his world -- the strongest fighters that could have made a difference died at the hands of monstrous androids. He's terrified of and hates Androids specifically for the things they've done to him and his home, to the point of having mild PTSD (see: episode 139, Trunks describing his home to Gohan and Krillin). He pins all his hopes on coming to the past and saving the prime timeline as well as finding some secret method to destroying the androids in his own timeline. The thought of anything like his homeworld happening again scares him and he knows the only way to prevent it is to become stronger. He's angry and feels a small bit of guilt for not being strong enough to stop the androids in his home or from killing Gohan, that Gohan didn't even consider Trunks strong enough to fight with him at the time.

'Passionate' is a good word to describe how badly he wants to become stronger to save his home, how badly he wants to keep everyone in the prime timeline alive and safe. How passionately angry he is at his entire situation and how weak he considers himself when up against the androids. He wants to prove himself and save both worlds and that's okay right, dad? Right?

Strengths
Physical: Seeing as Trunks is a character of DBZ, he can do the trademarked "fly by manipulating his ki" schtick. He also has some signature moves for himself. Like the AAAYYY MACARENA arm dance energy blast ("Burning Attack" first used in the anime/manga against Frieza). He's also fairly skilled with a sword and can use it on its own, or in conjunction with his energy blasts ("Shining Sword Attack", often as a finishing move i.e. Frieza again). He can also do the ki sense thing where he can sense large bodies of energy and usually who it is (since. Apparently everyone in DBZ has a signature energy?? shounen you weird, this ability really applies to the DBZ cast). And as with any saiyan, he also has the heightened strength and speed and due to the events in the History of Trunks OVA, can transform into a super saiyajin at will.

His strength and speed in Luceti will be downed to about 50% (or more if mods need) and his super saiyajin form will last all of 10 minutes in-game.

Mental: Trunks is extremely goal oriented. Eyes on the prize at all times; while everyone's celebrating minor victories, Trunks (at this point in canon) is the one to remind everyone that it's not over, there's still something much bigger. He puts his priorities in order for the safety of the world. He's very grounded and doesn't give in to (many) flights of fancy regarding their enemies. Also wow is this boy determined to succeed. Once he's convinced he can do something, he absolutely refuses to give up or die if there's even the slightest chance he'll succeed.

Emotional: The boy is super super loyal and devoted to the people he cares about. He won't give up on family or friends, which fuels his determination. Also wow he's fairly optimistic once he gets to the alternate timeline. He Knows Goku will save their world and everything will be fine, he Knows meeting his father for the first time will be sunshine and rainbows. He's very trusting in those he's heard stories built up about.

Weaknesses
Physical: Well, he is still human. So mortal wounds, death, etc still apply. He also lacks a lot of the proper training the other Z Fighters have since they were. Y'know. Dead. So he doesn't quite have the physical strength or prowess to take on bigger enemies, nor does he know how to focus his strengths in serious this-enemy-is-stronger-than-me battle. A lot of his fighting style is more hap-hazard being rushed into a few years of training with Gohan before he died as well. He doesn't get stronger or acquire new abilities as quickly as the rest of the Z fighters either -- he's the slow and steady learner of the bunch, but he'll train a lot to get where he wants to be.

Mental: As a result of his lack of training, Trunks lacks the ability to see the "bigger picture" in a large fight. He often hyper-focuses on one thing and fails to see everything else going around him. Fighting against stronger enemies, he'll panic and get overwhelmed, often leading him to try last resort attacks that leave him too exhausted to continue. When strategizing against a stronger enemy, he often psychs himself out before it even begins, thinking he/they can't win (see: him trying to stop Vegeta from fighting at every turn wow)

Emotional: Trunks is extremely overprotective of his family and friends (particularly Vegeta). Which in turn causes him to underestimate their abilities or even prevent them from going to battles they would potentially win. He'll try to protect them at the expense of all else (really it's about on level with 'saving the world' but family is very important). He also has an anger and temper problem, where he has a short fuse and it often blinds him from obvious solutions or from thinking logically about a situation. Gotta love Bulma and Vegeta's genes in that regard. The high expectations he sets on others can be easily broken, causing him to fall in panic and anxiety or even anger, depending on the individual in question. Either way, it leaves him pretty shaken.

Anything else?: I spoke with Umi (GT Trunks player) and Aly (mod) and got the okay to app him in o7

SAMPLES

First Person: Threads 1 and 2, and a D_M post

Third Person:

The Battle Dome was quickly becoming the place Trunks would be most familiar with given how many times he found himself there. It was the closest thing to anything like home he could find in this place. A place he could find solitude and train in peace so he could try to think. It didn't matter if his alternate timeline's family was here, that they treated him like real family or not, that none of this was right. They weren't supposed to be here. None of them, not even himself. He frowned at the controls and opted for a simple training room with punching bags and a big open area to work in. They were supposed to be back home, fighting to save the world, protecting each other there. Not some weird world that gave them wings and did horrible things to them all against their will. What was the point of them being here? What could these Malnosso want with them? He set the weight configuration to the highest setting and stared down the punching bag in front of him.

Being in a new place shouldn't have been that strange, should it? He traveled between two timelines already. And yet this one was completely out of his control. That alone was enough to make his skin crawl, but he could tell he didn't have his full strength either. It made his blood boil; he was already too weak back home, why did this place have to make him even weaker? When there was more to protect right in front of him? Not just his father and mother, but now his alternate self and sister? Not to mention everyone else that had been seemingly dragged here, just as unwillingly as he'd been.

He tried to focus on how hard his htis landed, tried to gauge just where his strength was now but he couldn't. He knew he needed to get stronger and that's all he could think now. Get stronger to fight alongside his father and their family and friends. He needed to get stronger to try and get them all out of this place and back home. Nevermind that it was the first time he felt like they could actually be a family, or that Vegeta was really anything close to being like a father. At least more than what he'd seen before being pulled here. It was almost nice. Really, if not for the war situation and what he knows those in charge were doing, he'd almost consider it a nice detour. But he couldn't. He couldn't and he knew it. So he had to focus. And the less distractions right now while he trained, the better it'd be for him.
